Two weekends ago I got to experience something I've been looking forward to for a LONG time...Anna's first trip to see the Nutcracker! Anna got ALL dolled up for the show, and just had a wonderful time.
I have to be honest...my obsession with The Nutcracker (and nutcrackers in general) borderlines on being extreme. An admission to the level of my crazy--I vividly remember being pregnant with Anna and, after finding out that she was a girl, thinking about how fun it would be to (in this order) 1) help her plan her wedding, 2) help her when she had a baby, and 3) take her to see The Nutcracker. Did I mention that I LOVE the Nutcracker?
Anna's been excited about going to see it since last year, when she regularly referred to it as the "Graham Cracker Ballet". She seemed a little too young last year, but did really great at it this year. The only part that she got slightly antsy at was the Sugar Plum Fairy solo/duet at the end (and to be honest I think most people get slightly antsy during that part).
Her favorite dancers were in the mirlitons in their bright pink and green tutus. After the show the cast came into the lobby to meet the audience, and Anna was generally a little too timid to want to go meet anyone. Until she saw the beautiful mirliton in her bright pink tutu. Then she had a change of heart. In a wonderful coincidence, this ballerina's name was Anna too! Our Anna was SO excited, and still talks about it...
Overall, it was a fantastic time! Only 353 days til the next Nutcracker...
