Anna continued her "interest" in team sports this fall by playing soccer. And, I put "interest" in quotes because we very quickly discovered that her "interest" in soccer was limited at best. I think she liked the idea of soccer much more than she liked playing the game itself.
Not exactly sure about the pose above, but she was insistent that that's how she wanted her picture taken.
At her first game, she's still pretty into it...
Playing on the playground at the soccer fields after the game was definitely one of the highlights of the season...
While Anna's interest in soccer seemed to wane as the season progressed, Kate's certainly didn't. She loved coming and watching the games, and was usually chomping at the bit to get in on the action. Given their personalities, if one of them is into soccer, I think it would certainly be Kate.
The highlight of the season was definitely our coaches. Coach Ramie and Coach Adam were so great with the kids, and made the whole thing so fun and positive--we so appreciate them!! I'm not sure Anna will be doing soccer again, and I think the thing that makes me the saddest about it is for her not to have them as coaches again!
One of the few "action" shots of the year...Anna did enjoy kicking the ball in from out of bounds...
On our way to one of the games at the end of the season--Anna: "Mommy, can I ask Coach Ramie if I can play a certain position this game?" Me: "Sure, honey. What position do you want to play?" Anna: "Sub." :-) Yeah, this was definitely her favorite spot during the games.
But, I don't want to make it sound like she totally hated it. She did enjoy quite a bit of it. I think it was just a little too aggressive for her, and it turned out to be a sport (which we didn't know going into it) that her petite size was a pretty big factor.
We think we'll stick to t-ball and try some gymnastics this spring...
